Roses

  • Huge bouquets of roses to city staff who provided the Monday night Summer Concert Series in the Parks. Sitting in our beautiful parks on a beautiful evening listening to beautiful music was one of the highlights this summer. Congrats on a job well done.
  • Roses to the lovely city engineer who listened and is doing something about the sidewalks on 96th Avenue. Thanks.
  • A large bouquet of roses to our mailman, Andy, for assisting me (an elderly handicapped lady living in a townhouse complex) unload the groceries from my car. There he was, while so many residents just whizzed on by. Many, many thanks!
  • Roses and thank-yous to my Tynehead neighbours Toni, and son Steve, Joanne, Chris and Kevin, Dave, Susie and Kevin and Nirmahl. During the windstorm, two trees hit our home, leaving us without power into our sixth day. Despite having their own challenges, these neighbours offered us places to stay, food/coffee, the use of their power to charge our phones, water, etc., and most importantly, their support. Big hugs and roses also go to the BC Hydro crew that arrived at 10:30 p.m. to restore our power.

Rotten Tomatoes

  • Rotten tomatoes to the woman who made us feel bad for changing our baby’s diaper on the food court table. Shame on the mall for having the family room with the only change table locked. I have my own portable change mat and my baby’s dirty diaper or bum never touched the table. Plus, the custodians are constantly sanitizing and wiping down the tables. If you’re going to let your kids eat right off the table, instead of the tray, then shame on you for not wiping it down first. Either leave your germ-phobia at home or don’t bring your kids to eat at the food court.
  • Rotten tomatoes to the spectators and competitors at Cloverdale Athletic Park. Not only do you block the paved walking paths, refusing to move aside for walkers and joggers, you ignore the designated parking areas.
  • Rotten tomatoes to the bully in the burgundy pickup who saw me passing the semi that was unloading and blocking my lane in the parking lot at Panorama  Village Shopping Centre. You deliberately sped up, blocking me from passing. I was already halfway past the semi – you could have simply waited two seconds for me to complete the pass, but instead you found it necessary to rev your engine and head toward me. You’re a little man overcompensating with a big truck.
