Protest crossed a line

I have no problem with people protesting in a peaceful and respectful manner.

Re: Deer cull opponents target mayor’s home (News, Nov. 27).

I have no problem with people protesting in a peaceful and respectful manner. I’m sure that was the original intention of the DeerSafe Victoria protest, which happened Nov. 23 in front of Oak Bay Municipal Hall.

As I drove by the protest, I noticed about 30 people who seemed passionate about the cause they were marching for.

But then their protest took a different turn – marching to the home of Oak Bay Mayor Nils Jensen, to protest on his property. As luck would have it, the mayor was not home at the time.

I think this type of behaviour crosses a line that should not be crossed by any protesters.

To march to someone’s home and disrupt the sanctity of their personal space is totally unacceptable and I, for one, think it does an injustice to any cause and discredits protesters and what they are concerned about.

It does more harm than good.
