North Cowichan should defer new RCMP station

I am so tired of every year’s taxes going up far more than the rate of inflation because our municipality has little notion of prioritization and which capital projects can be deferred to another year.

The new RCMP building fits the trend as North Cowichan is pushing ahead regardless of the premium tacked on because COVID-19. I understand that the RCMP building is crowded and antiquated but it did not get that way overnight, but to plow forward during the pandemic at who knows how much extra is not an option for the rest of us.

Many people are suffering hardships through job losses and lost income during the pandemic and I am sure many of these people have or are going to defer some spending. Deferring is not an admission of anything other than the need to find a balance for everyone paying property taxes in NC.
