Re: Watts’ last stand as mayor, Dec. 4.

I have been needlessly concerned that the intelligence and energy of Dianne Watts would be lost to us with her resignation as our mayor.

She’s now free to engage in tree planting. There is continuous employment to be had if we’re to get out of this hole we’ve dug for ourselves and reach the goal of 40 per cent tree canopy by 2058.

Oops. This is but wishful thinking.

With continued lucrative development of so-termed affordable housing, precious little land will be left for unaffordable tree cover.

Sorry, Ms. Watts. Too late.
