Macey, a Springer Spaniel, puts a puddle to good use at the Uplands off-leash park Saturday. Dog owner Betty Tepel says she’s noticed more people bringing their children to the dog park. She says it is only a matter of time until an unfortunate event occurs.Dan Ferguson Langley Times

Letter:Dogs and kids don’t always mix

Editor: The Uplands dog off-leash park, is just that "a dog off-leash park," not a playground. There have been increasing concerns from dog walkers in the park regarding the number of little children running, riding bikes etc, in the park.

Dog owners have a limited number of areas where they can let their dogs off leash to release pent-up energy.

It is unsafe for children and unfair for the dogs, and it is only a matter of time until an unfortunate event occurs.

I believe it is the responsibility of the parents. Please let your children play in playgrounds, schoolyards, parks, trails, etc. and leave the dogs parks for the dogs.
