To the editor,
Re: City will look at other sites for supportive housing, Feb. 8.
Enough of these supportive housing properties popping up everywhere. These people should not be left on their own to deal drugs, and continue to live a lifestyle that is a major detriment to any neighbourhood.
As for Coun. Diane Brennan to say something like “Every individual has the same right to a home, as everyone in this room does.” Sorry, wrong. I have to work to pay for my place, and I don’t break into cars to get drug money. As for Dean Fortin the executive director of Pacifica who said, “Very quickly, people don’t even know the facility is in the neighbourhood.” Yeah, sure, there’s one of those supportive housing right beside a senior accommodation in the Uplands area. I have witnessed people there doing drug deals more than once. Speak to the seniors in the building next door, you will find out about theft and cars broken into since that place opened. These people belong in mental facilities and detox centres.
