LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Society doesn’t owe tent city campers a thing

Those at Discontent City do not want subsidized housing, they want free housing, says letter writer

To the editor,

Re: Summer of our discontent, July 17.

There is way too much babying and endless tax money going to a whack of local vagrants or those putting their thumbs out to hitchhike to B.C.’s No. 1 crash spot, right across the street from endless shoplifting opportunities, free food and clothing with shoot-up supplies dropped off right at the tent you’ve been given or stole.

It is not society who owes these malcontents a thing. They have somehow gotten into their lifestyles and they are the only ones who can reach out for help.

Those packing our public places do not want subsidized housing, they want free housing. Doesn’t everyone? You contribute to civilization and you get back. If you do not behave civilly you should not be automatically rewarded with a single thing.

Time for all the stolen belongings to be packed up on the stolen shopping carts and the homeless people moved to the yards and homes of their activists, who themselves have offered nothing except for media photo opportunities.
