Letter to the editor: Respected veterans

A letter of thanks to Correlieu for their Remembrance Day ceremony.

I want to publicly thank the students, staff and administration at Correlieu senior secondary school for their incredibly moving and respectful Remembrance Day ceremony this year.

From start to finish, the ceremony was conducted with professionalism and grace, clearly demonstrating the maturity of the student body at CSS and their respect for those who have served and continue to serve our nation’s interests in the all too many armed conflicts since World War I.

Throughout the half hour ceremony, the CSS students showed a disciplined attentiveness that belied their youth and how far removed their daily lives are from the conflicts and sacrifices that were spoken of and remembered. Many were moved to tears during a video presentation by two of their own peers, including those of us sitting in the dignitaries section. I want to thank principal Mike Adams, music teacher Shawn Smith, the student band and choir and the students who read, sang and presented during the ceremony. Our community and our nations’ veterans were well served by your efforts.
