LETTER: Thank you for saving our homes and lives

LETTER: Thank you for saving our homes and lives

Your relentless honking was the only reason that those families woke up in time to escape the fire

This is a letter to the woman who called 911 the night (April 25) of the fire on Seventh Avenue:

You happened to be at the right place at the right time, but it was because of what you did – your quick thinking – that saved us.

Your relentless honking was the only reason that those families woke up in time to make it out unharmed. Your call to 911 saved many homes, and likely lives.

The fire was so strong, and was spreading so quickly that had that call been any later, there would have been a very different outcome.

It was the middle of the night, and the streets were completely dead quiet, except for your lucky presence. We are all so grateful and so lucky you passed by when you did.

Living across from the firehall, we are all pretty immune to noise. Your honking didn’t phase us. It took a long time for any of us to respond, but you kept honking, kept screaming and didn’t stop until we were all out safely.

On behalf of all of us, thank you so much, truly. We are more grateful than you could ever know.

I hope this letter of thanks finds you.
