Thank you to Beau Simpson for sharing the war time story of his grandparents. They were amazingly brave people.

I was moved to tears at the end.

The story reminds me of my own grandma, in Taiwan, who is also turning 90 in the spring.

Unfortunately I cannot call her because she’s almost deaf now. My grandpa passed away in the early 1980s and sadly, I don’t remember him.

As a young couple, they, too, had been through a war – the civil war. It meant that he never was able to see or hear from his family in China again.

I wish people nowadays could be a little more like your grandparents, who were so innocent, so true and brave. I’ll read the other stories now. Thank you for creating this edition.
