This is a letter to the editor responding to the article on Dec. 20, “Cycling advocate makes pitch for lower speeds on local roads.”
I too am an avid cyclist, but I absolutely disagree with a blanket lowering of speed limits on local roads in B.C. It would be an enormous waste of money, as it would require new speed limit signs on the vast majority of B.C. roads for which this lowering would be totally inappropriate.
It would be far more constructive for this advocacy group to specify the roads that they would like lower speed limits on than to try to push their agenda and the costs onto an entire province for which this makes no sense.
