While reading the paper the other day I saw a photo of a person speaking on a platform. From what I could see he wasn’t waving a knife, waving a gun, had any explosives strapped to him, nor did he appear to be screaming a bunch of threats. He was saying what he thought or stating his opinion. I don’t know what he was saying, I wasn’t there.
But suddenly there appears to be a bunch of supposed believers of democracy pulling him down. Is this man not entitled to free speech? Or is free speech reserved for those of us who are, shall we say a cut above everyone else? My dad and five of his brothers got shot at for five years defending our democracy. If you like what the man says then leave or better yet why not jump up there and tell everybody what you think? Would love to hear it.
As for the Regional District of Central Kootenay I would just like to say, “Are you going to let a group of supposed believers of democracy dictate to you who you are going have speak?” If so then you don’t have my support and certainly none of my respect.
