Penticton Western News letters to the editor.

Letter: Do some soul-searching

I think the letter writer has some soul-searching to do

Regarding the letter to the editor (Penticton Western News, May 11, Hold inmates accountable), the writer makes a statement that I would allege to be stereotyping and downright profiling (which is illegal, by the way).

The statement is as follows: “Get educated, work so you are not impoverished and pull yourself out of the rut most Aboriginals trend towards.”

I couldn’t believe what I had just read and had to re-read it to make sure I was seeing what I thought I was seeing. This statement would suggest that a good majority of First Nations people are lazy and are only out for a free ride. I think making a statement like this is as absolutely shameful as it is untrue.

I think the letter writer has some soul-searching to do.
