LETTER: Concert supported refugee sponsorship group

The Summerland Refugee Support Group held a special fund raising event that took place on Wednesday evening, Dec. 28.

Dear Editor:

The Summerland Refugee Support Group held a special fund raising event that took place on Wednesday evening, Dec. 28.

The concert was held at the Summerland United Church which donated the facility for the concert.

For those who attended the Home for the Holidays concert, they were treated to a superbly professional performance of classical vocal and instrumental pieces.

The quality of voice of soprano Lindsay Robinson and baritone Graham Robinson and the instrumental talents of classical pianist Lynn Gartrell Robinson and Ross Robinson, on trumpet, was a rare treat for a community as small as Summerland.

It is with great appreciation and many thanks that we recognize the Robinson/Gartrell families who arranged and performed in this benefit musical for the community and in support of our efforts to host refugees to Canada and Summerland.

Rather than spending the holiday season relaxing and enjoying time with family and friends, they freely donated their time planning, rehearsing, and performing a musical delight for the community.

At the time of writing this letter this generous and talented family helped us raise over $1,400 for our refugee support activities.

I would certainly encourage anyone who has an occasion in the future to experience this family’s talent to make sure they don’t miss the opportunity.

On behalf of the community of Summerland and the Summerland Refugee Support Group, I would like to again express our great admiration and gratitude for the generosity of this wonderful family in sharing the true meaning and spirit of the Christmas season with us all.
