BOUQUET To Jim and crew from Mid Island Fence. They arrived on the date they said, and the job was completed professionally and quickly. Thank you for the excellent service and attention to detail.
BEEF To the person who states that allowing Mother Nature to grow trees in a backyard is inconsiderate. Why should your neighbour be responsible to hire someone to trim trees so that you can have an ocean view you think you are entitled to?
BOUQUET To members of Nanaimo RCMP. You really helped me out when I needed it. I am much saner and stronger now, in part to your intervention. Keep up the stellar work.
BEEF To people who consistently shop at the expensive grocery stores, department stores, drug stores, etc., and then complain about the high cost of living, say they can’t make ends meet, are living paycheque to paycheque, and can’t save a dime.
BOUQUET To Kevin, of Island Inkjet at Woodgrove Centre, who was so helpful and patient with my repeated requests for help with my badly behaved printer.
BEEF To the grocery store chain that guarantees the lowest price. If that claim was true, why are most prices in your weekly flyer higher than what people would pay for the same item at other grocery stores in town?
BOUQUET To Quality Foods on Bowen Road for a silly reason. I have mobility problems and can’t stand for very long. I was waiting for a cab and the store had bags of fertilizer piled up out front.
BEEF To the nightclub for saying no to me and a friend when we asked for a glass of tap water with the purchase of our drinks. They also gave our other friend a hard time when he asked for an empty glass to fill up with water from the bathroom.
BOUQUET To Big-O Tire on Albert Street for best service, above and beyond.
BEEF To the dozen or so vehicles which park along the side of Black Diamond Drive off Jingle Pot Road. The white line is there to indicate the section is for pedestrians and is also designated as part of the Parkway Trail.
BOUQUET To the RCMP for making their presence known at school zones when our precious little ones are back in school. Especially noted is the officer on Metral Drive catching speeders in both directions.
BEEF To the guy driving a grey Sonoma on a side road to Rhododendron Lake. You hit our beloved dog Lucy. You killed her. You didn’t even stop. How can you sleep at night?
BOUQUET To Oceanside Church and its volunteers for the enjoyable Love the City event in Maffeo Sutton Park. Free children’s activities and food, good music and fun for all.
BEEF To the lady following a low-bed truck, with a ‘wide load’ sign and a pilot vehicle, who saw it necessary to finger the driver for taking up both lanes while crossing a bridge. This is done for everyone’s safety.
BOUQUET To Emcon construction worker. You saved the day and possibly our lives when you sprang into action and directed traffic as our motorhome sat broken down on a treacherous part of the Island Highway.
BEEF To people who think everything they read on Facebook is true.
BOUQUET To the lady with the dog who picks up garbage along the E&N Trail near Cypress Street.
BEEF To growers who expect a premium price for what very often is far from premium quality. Poor produce is poor regardless of how close to home it is grown.
BOUQUET To Darlene and Penny at the north-end London Drugs for being so helpful and friendly to two old ladies.
BEEF To the people who habitually say “What?,” “Huh?” or “What’s that?” when they heard what you said.
BOUQUET To the gentleman who found my wallet in the north-end dollar store parking lot and returned it intact to the bank.
BEEF To the hospital for not having a parking ticket purchase dispenser closer than 90 metres from the handicapped parking.
BOUQUET To the RCMP and staff at the VIEX who shut down the entire fair to find my missing daughter. Thank you for your care and patience.
BEEF To the beefer. Handicap changerooms are for wheelchairs as indicated on the door. These rooms are made larger to accommodate the chair, not the handicap.
BOUQUET to the lovely young couple swimming at the Colliery dams who were chatting with my grandkids and left them their goggles to keep.
BEEF To the city. The medians in north Nanaimo are a disgrace with weeds a metre high. It is looking like Detroit abandoned. How about spending some money in our area, not just downtown?
BOUQUET To the person who handed in my cellphone after finding it in the Canadian Tire parking lot. It made my day.
BEEF To the person who thinks a lung condition entitles them to use a handicapped washroom stall. These stalls are for those who need extra room to accommodate wheelchairs, walkers or a person to accompany a disabled person.
BOUQUET To Eugene and Eduardo at The Source at Woodgrove Centre for being kind and helpful about my new headset. There were some complications with my language program but the guys were professional.
BEEF To the cruel comment about the woman running and squealing in a park. Telling her to stay home is counterproductive and displays a serious lack of compassion for the mentally ill.
BOUQUET To the Nanaimo Clippers for the classy season ticket pickup and meet the team event at Simonholt earlier this month. Very well done.
BOUQUET To Steve at Wellington Garage and Chris before him for looking after my truck and my wife’s car over the past 50 years. It’s nice to deal with someone who cares.
BOUQUET To Robert and Advantage Vacuum at Terminal Park for friendly, prompt and efficient customer service and free repair.
BOUQUET To all our 55-Plus B.C. Games participants. Thanks for representing our communities and being such good sports and congratulations on your medals.
