Be careful this summer: Keep dogs out of hot cars

My grandson and I were in Qualicum Beach, enjoying an ice cream, when we see this dog in a car with the windows cracked.

On Friday, May 8 my grandson and I were in downtown Qualicum Beach, outside enjoying an ice cream and the beautiful hot sun, when we see this dog in a car with the windows cracked, but in the hot sun.

My grandson (10 years old) was upset seeing the dog bark and bark in the hot car, as the car was parked in the direct sun. We were wondering who should be called — is there a number to report such cruelty?

There should be a bylaw of some kind and telephone numbers posted around town so we can report these acts of cruelty, with quick action so dogs can be rescued from cars and owners fined

We all know the reasons, like my dog won’t stay home alone.

Well, my response to this is: train your dogs. This can be done if some time and effort is put into training and not just putting your pet in the car and leaving it to suffer in the hot sun.

And please keep your dogs on the leash at the parks and at the beach in our beautiful Qualicum Beach.

Summer is just around the corner, let’s  all enjoy it.
