Armageddon might be already here

Trump, possibly the worst president in U.S. history, is pulling the US of A out of the Paris Accord

Editor, The Times:

The end of the world is coming. It is “end times” and Armageddon is about to be fought. The four horsemen of the Apocalypse will ride!

So some religious believers tell us and, who knows, maybe they are right.

For the people in southern California at this moment it must feel like the end of the world. The four horsemen, in the form of high wind-driven flames, are sweeping the lands – buildings burnt, the land blackened beyond recognition. It truly must feel, for those in the path of this destruction, like “end times.”

Mind you, just like Armageddon, this has been predicted by 97 per cent of climate scientists. Unlike Armageddon, it’s really happening!

With the Atlantic pouring into subways of New York or the citizens of Miami having to wear hip-waders at high tide on certain streets, the effects of global warming – climate change are all around us. One just has to pay some attention.

Yet there are those who deny the whole thing. Among them is the president of the most powerful nation on the planet. As I write, Donald Trump, possibly the worst president in U.S. history, is pulling the US of A out of the Paris Accord. Ye Gods, even Syria a country that truly has gone through hell, has signed on.

However, there are those of the religious persuasion whose votes carried Donald Trump to power, who, while denying climate change (it’s Gods will – there’s nothing one can do about it) will tell you of a coming showdown between the righteous and the evil at Megiddo (or is it Jerusalem).

With Donald Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, this confrontation may come sooner rather than later. The righteous will triumph and global warming, which probably doesn’t exist anyway, will disappear.

Meantime, back in southern California, people flee horrendous wildfires that pursue them relentlessly. Just like Fort McMurray in 2016 or B.C. this summer, it was very easy to conjure up an “end of times” scenario in the flames and smoke rushing after them.

Those Californians could well see the four horsemen of Apocalypse charging after them. Armageddon, why wait for it? It just might be already here.
