William L. (Bill)
June 6, 1933 – April 11, 2008
Bill passed away at the age of 74 after a courageous battle with cancer. A loving father and grandfather, Bill is survived by son Dan (Diane), daughters Gail and Gina, precious grandchildren Justin and Jessica and the mother of his children, Hedy. The eldest of five boys, Bill is also survived by brothers Jim, Murray, Ken and Tom.
After moving from Regina to B.C. with his family in the late 1940’s , Bill began a career in construction and he spent many successful years in the road-building industry.
An avid fan of sports, Bill was also a proficient curler and golfer as well as an accomplished ballroom and country western dancer. He served as a Rotary Club president and in his leisure time, enjoyed traveling, particularly to Hawaii.
Around mid-life, changes in both his personal and professional circumstances brought a dramatic shift to Bill’s priorities and values. Bill returned to school to pursue a liberal arts education; after several years of rewarding academic study, he found work counseling young men in the local correctional system.
Bill will be dearly missed by his family and fondly remembered for his quick mind, love of learning and delightfully rich and textured sense of humour. Bill’s children wish to express our deeply felt gratitude to the wonderful staff at the Menno Care Home for the abundance of kindness, compassion and support given our father and all of our family during his illness.
