Velma DENNIE

DENNIE, Velma Margaret (Fritzler)

July 18, 1921 – March 19, 2017

Born in Champion, Alberta on July 18, 1921, our mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend passed away peacefully at Heritage Village in Chilliwack on March 19, 2017.

Predeceased by her parents Peter and Molly Fritzler, her husband Phillip Dennie in 1993, siblings Alec, Jacob, Peter, Clara, Nina, Alice and Leo.

She is lovingly remembered by her brother Herb Fritzler, her daughter Cheryl (Dave) Kmyta, son Dave (Laura) Dennie, grandchildren Mark, Matthew, Bria, Caleb and many nieces and nephews.

She enjoyed growing up on the farm and riding her horse Scotty. She worked in Lethbridge at Eatons and later went to North West Bible School in Edmonton graduating in 1950. She moved to Vancouver and had her daughter Cheryl and got married in 1957. She enjoyed cooking, providing hearty meals for her family and borders.

She was an avid fan of baseball, hockey and football. She retired from Sears in 1994. One of her greatest joys in life came from her grandchildren.

Thank you to the community health workers who cared for Velma in her home. And thank you to the care aids, LPNs, nurses, staff and volunteers at Heritage Village for the care given to Velma.

In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Alzheimer or Heart and Stroke Societies. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, May 25th at 1:30pm at Cross Connection Church, 9310 Williams St., Chilliwack.
