It is with great sadness that the family of Tom Hunt announces his passing on August 22nd at the age of 63 years. Tom is survived by his loving wife of 42 years Mary Jane; his son Christopher; his daughter-in-law Danielle; his granddaughters Zoé and Audrée; his mother Ruth; and many other family and friends. He is predeceased by his infant son Craig Tyler; his sister Barbara; his brother Bill; and his father Mike.
Tom was born and raised in Lethbridge, Alberta. After apprenticing in Calgary, Tom moved his family to the Shuswap region and opened his plumbing and heating business. After 14 years of being an entrepreneur, Tom moved his family to Vancouver Island and applied his trades to maintaining schools in Port Hardy and then Nanaimo. Four years ago, Tom and Mary Jane moved back to the Shuswap to be closer to family.
Tom requested no formal service be held; however, there was an informal gathering of family and friends at the Prebble residence in Blind Bay on Friday August 26th to remember Tom and celebrate his life.
Tom’s family would like to thank the staff at the Shuswap Lake General Hospital for their outstanding work and the compassion they showed Tom in his final days.
In lieu of flowers, Tom’s family requests donations be made to Muscular Dystrophy Canada, 2345 Yonge St, Suite 900, Toronto, Ontario M4P 2E5, www.muscule.ca.
