Ronald AYERS

Ronald “Ron” Ayers, of Walnut Grove, BC, died September 25, 2014 at 93, of natural causes at Langley Gardens Senior Care Home. Valley View Memorial Gardens Surrey: Sunday Oct 5, viewing from 1 to 3 PM; Monday Oct 6 at 10:30 AM grave side service at Four Prophets. Ron was born in England, November 1920. He joined the RAF in 1937, months before his 18th birthday. He worked as an airplane mechanic during the war. While stationed in Canada he met the love of his life, Lillian. After the war he moved to Canada to marry his sweetheart. He worked as a psych nurse for a number of years then rejoined the Canadian Air Force to work on airplanes again from 1954-1970. His love of planes continued throughout his life. After retiring from the military, he moved his family to Surrey, BC, to get away from the prairie winters. Ron worked in security and then as a high school janitor for a number of years. If the school kids were troublemakers he would check out the yearbooks and shock them by knowing their names. He was a handyman and an avid woodworker making a rocking horse for his little girls, a swing set, a playhouse, tent trailer, furniture, model toys, airplanes, pictures. He is predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Lillian and his daughter Linda. Ron is survived by three of his children, Betty-Lou of Thompson, MB; Myrna of Calgary, AB; and Ronald James of Langley, BC; four grandchildren; and great grandchildren.
