June 1, 1936 – July 5, 2019
Reid passed away peacefully at Cowichan District Hospital on July 5, 2019 after a very brief but courageous battle with cancer. His family would like to thank the many doctors and nurses who cared for him during his illness. He showed grace and humour throughout his last days.
Reid leaves behind his wife Pat of nearly 55 years; his daughter Tricia (Andy); son Mark (Cindy); six grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. Reid was predeceased by his daughter Melanie.
Reid was born in Ashcroft, BC but he lived most of his life on Vancouver Island. He started logging in 1955 in Jeune Landing and ended his career in 2001 at the age of 65 with TimberWest at the Honeymoon Bay Division.
Reid and Pat married in August 1964 and they raised three children together. Reid was a man that needed very little from life and was content with the work he loved, socializing with his many friends, gardening, watching sports and spending time with his beloved cats.
As well as being remembered by his loving family he will be missed by his many friends and his work colleagues who affectionately referred to him as “Boss Hog”.
A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 27, 2019 in the Arbor Reception Lounge at Sands Funeral Chapel, 187 Trunk Road, Duncan, BC.
