Predeceased by his loving sister, Ruth, in Denmark and his parents, Paul and Anna Christensen. Loving husband to wife, Jean, and forever “Popsy” to daughter, Loreen. Peter left behind 2 brothers and 3 sisters in Canada, family members in Denmark and Norway and a large, supportive extended family including nieces and nephews. Peter was a friend to all, a dedicated volunteer to many causes, a naturalist, hiker, cross-country skier, canoeist, camp cook, a “Mr. Fix-it”. His belief that a “stranger was just a friend that you hadn’t met yet” and that everyone might need a willing hand to help at some time. Proud member of Operating Engineers Union, Local #115, Honorary Life Member of both Nordic Ski Club and Abbeyfield Orchard City Society, former member and friend of Sons of Norway and Oddfellows Lodge, guide for Ski for Light (Blind Skiers), member Central Okanagan Naturalists Club and any cause for which he could lend help with his hands and his heart. Peter was raised from age 2 in the East Kootenay region of B.C., lived for over 30 years in Castlegar and retired to Kelowna in 1999. During his working years, he was employed as a Heavy Duty Mechanic on Hydroelectric projects. He ran his own mobile mechanic business servicing the trucking industry and continued his trade as a hobby during retirement. He loved all things “Scandinavian” and felt at home in Denmark and Norway. In lieu of flowers, charitable donations may be made in Peter’s memory to Abbeyfield Orchard City Society, 1531 Bernard Ave., Kelowna, V1Y 6R8. Memorial Service: Saturday, Feb. 16. 10 a.m. Unitarian Fellowship of Kelowna, corner of Bertram and Cawston.
