Peter Enns left this life on wings of the morning to his heavenly home with the Lord on February 17. He was born in Lethbridge, Alberta on August 5, 1932, the sixth of nine children born to Cornelius and Susannah Enns. The Enns family moved from Readymade to Chilliwack in 1945. In 1954 he met and married the love of his life, Dorothy Schroeder. Peter was a man who ‘walked the talk’. He assisted in planting church congregations, even constructing the buildings themselves. Following semi-retirement in 1995, he went to Uganda to build an orphanage. Peter loved his involvement in helping the Fraser Valley Gleaners get underway. Gardening, music, and chatting with friends and neighbours brought him great joy. Peter is lovingly remembered by Dorothy, his wife of 62 years, and his children, Cathy Merkel, Peter (Kerry) Enns, and Andy (Leanne) Enns, 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He also leaves behind one surviving brother, Nick Enns, as well as many relatives and dear friends. He was predeceased by his siblings; Cornie, Abe, Fred, Ann, Nikolai, Harold, and Eric. A celebration of Peter’s life is planned for 11:00 am, Tuesday, February 28 at Northview Community Church (Westcourt Wing). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Fraser Valley Gleaners Association.
