Persis Fernet

FERNET, Persis. It is with heavy hearts that we let friends and family know that Persis Fernet (nee Wotherspoon) passed away suddenly and peacefully, on April 24th ,2007. Persis was pre-deceased by her loving husband of 53 years, Alex, in 1998, her brother Leslie, and her sisters Audrey and Hazel. She is survived by her brothers Doug, Ken and Clayton Wotherspoon, and her sister Marjorie Alberts, and her sister-in-law Alexina Tyo. She will be lovingly missed by her five children and their families: Diane and Glen Bishop ( Edmonton); Dave, Jackie, Kris and Candace Fernet (Calgary); Ron, Geri, Jennifer, Michelle, and Kim Fernet (Saskatoon); Greg, Marian, Kayla and Alanna Fernet (Ottawa); and Jacquie Ryrie (Winnipeg). She will also be mourned by numerous nieces and nephews and many, many friends. Persis was born on a farm near McKim, Saskatchewan, and ventured away from home at the early age of sixteen to become a nurse. She and Alex made their home in Saskatoon for many years, and retired to White Rock in 1982. She lived her life fully- with passion, courage and a strong sense of adventure. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, and gave generously of her spirit, time and joy to all those she held dear. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 28th ,2007 at Valley View Funeral Home-14660-72nd Ave. Surrey.
