The family of Paul Bailey Shaw announce his passing on Jan 8, 2021
Paul was born February 27, 1929 in Montreal, QC to parents Charles Joseph Shaw and Francis Theresa Shaw (née O’Brien.) Pre-deceased by his parents, his in-laws, Bruce H. Wright and Kathleen H. Wright (née Gray), brothers, Charles, Barry, Brien and Martin, sisters-in-law, Ruth, Doreen, by his nephew, Keith, and his nieces, Consuelo and Kathleen.
Paul is survived by his wife of 67 years, Sarah, his brother John (Barbara), children; Stephen (Elizabeth), Douglas (Jackie), Michael (Barbara), Cecily, Catherine (Larry), John (Karen), Patrick (Lori), and Paul, and sister-in-law, Mary Martha (Jean-Eudes) and by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Paul attended St. Francis Xavier University, obtaining his Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in Latin in 1950, and worked at Royal Trust in Montréal. Following that, he married Sarah on September 19, 1953. He attended Teachers College in Montréal from 1960 – 1962, obtaining his teacher’s diploma with five children at home.
He taught at Catholic schools in Pointe Claire, QC, Calgary and Pincher Creek, AB, and retired as Principal at St. Michaels RC School in Pincher Creek, AB in 1975.
Paul was a small business owner in Lethbridge and Waterton Park, AB, as well as Cedar and Nanaimo, BC. He was a lifetime member of the Nanaimo Family History Society, and an avid genealogist. He meticulously organized this invaluable history for future generations. His grandchildren and great grandchildren brought him great joy, and he enjoyed seeing them grow up and was so proud of them all.
The family thanks Dr. Dodo and all staff at Nanaimo Seniors Village, and is grateful for the exceptional companionship and care provided by nurses Erin, Michelle and Filsan.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date when we can all be together again.
