Patricia ‘Pat’ Marie RICHARD nee Swiscoski

Patricia 'Pat' Marie RICHARD nee Swiscoski

Nov. 29, 1953- Aug. 21, 2011

Patricia “Pat” peacefully passed away Sunday, August 21st, 2011 with her family

by her side in Kamloops Royal Inland Hospital; she was 57.

Pat was born in Minnedosa, Man. on November 29th 1953, to parents Benny Swiscoski and Anne Swiscoski. She was their youngest daughter. She was raised in Bethany, Manitoba where she attended school until grade 8 and then went to Minnedosa Collegiate for grades 9-11. Later in life she decided to get her GED and received her grade 12.

One of Pat’s most memorable jobs was when she worked at Burn’s Meats in Brandon as the receptionist. She loved her job and made wonderful friendships, which she treasured.

In 1970 she moved to Winnipeg, Man. where she got a job at Birk’s Jewelers. It was here she ended up meeting Joe, when he made his daily deliveries. They decided to move to Terrace B.C. where Joe got into the logging business. They were married in Terrace on November 6th, 1976.

Shortly after getting married, they moved to Campbell River B.C. This is where their first daughter Angela was born. Two years later their second daughter Christie came along. Chris and Aimee became a part of the family in 1984, when they moved to Chetwynd. In Chetwynd, Pat helped Joe run their large logging company, managing staff and doing all the book work. In 1993 the family moved to 100 Mile House where they decided to settle.

Family meant everything to Pat, she was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and sister. She was good to everyone and loved to spoil us all. She enjoyed making crafts, and was always around to help with birthday cakes and Halloween costumes. She was also a big part of her daughter and sons-in-law’s towing company, as she was the friendly voice who would always answer the phone.

Pat loved all the little things that life had to offer, she was easy going and loved to laugh. When you were feeling down she always found a way to lift your spirits and make you smile.

Pat leaves to mourn her loving husband of 35 years, Joe; her daughter Angela ( Mark) Grant and their sons Ryan and Evan; daughter Christie Richard (Brad) and their daughters Shayla and Kaylee; son Christopher Richard and his sons Clayton and Nathaniel; as well as her daughter Aimee Richard and her daughter Dakota. She also leaves her sister Diane Naherney of Winnipeg, Man. and her family; brother Wayne (Karen) Davies of Rivers, Man. and their family; sister Cathy (Merv) Starzyk and their family; brother Rick Swiscoski of Barrie Ont. and brother Randy (Virginia) Swiscoski of Minnedosa, Man. and their family; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Pat was predeceased by her parents Benny Swiscoski, Anne Swiscoski, her brother Tom Davies, and her twin sons.

A private graveside service was held September 10th. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be to the BC Cancer Foundation, 399 Royal Avenue, Kelowna, BC V1Y 5L3 or the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation,4480 Oak Street, B321 Vancouver, BC V6H 3V4.
