Olga (Nee Syrnyk) Smith

SMITH, OLGA (NEE SYRNYK)

Long-time resident of both Fairview, Alberta and Kelowna, British

Columbia, Olga Smith (nee Syrnyk) passed away on March 3, 2013.

Olga was born in Ethelbert,

Manitoba, May 2nd, 1923. After

taking a hair styling course in

Edmonton, she opened her own shop in Hines Creek. In October 1946, she married Joseph Smith

of Vanrena, where they farmed

until 1974. Olga was an active CWL member and also

volunteered for many years with the Rutland Hospital

Auxillary.

She is survived by her sister Jean (Jerry) Korby of Kelowna; two sons: Ken (Margaret) of Blind Bay, BC and Murray

(Barbara) of Lake Country, BC; 6 grandchildren: David,

Jeffrey, Darren, Skylar, Lauren, and Kevin; and 4 great grandchildren: Caleb, Rosabelle, Noelle, and Lochlan; and many nieces and nephews. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to all the staff at the Lake Country Lodge

and Manor for their sincere compassionate care. Donations in memory of Olga to the Heart and Stroke Foundation,

would be appreciated.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday March 8, 2013, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church,1260 Neptune Road, Kelowna, BC. Interment will follow in Kelowna Memorial Park Cemetery.
