Myrtle, age 95, passed away Tuesday, May 18, 2010, at Sun Pointe Village, Kelowna, BC. Myrtle is survived by her husband of 73 years, Harold William Robertson, who also resides at Sun Pointe. They met in Somme, SK. When Harold retired from teaching in 1970, Myrtle and Harold moved to Kelowna where they built their own house in Rutland. While in Saskatchewan, they made their home in Yeoman, Archerwill, Imperial, McQuarrie, Nora, Wadena, and Viscount. For many years, Myrtle and Harold enjoyed their annual RV trips to the Prairies to visit friends and family and welcomed the return visits. Myrtle was born April 9, 1915, at Hatton, North Dakota, USA, to Odin and Lizzie (nee Hove) Benson. In 1920 the family immigrated to Saskatchewan Canada, first to Stalwart and then to the homestead at Porcupine Plain. Myrtle’s grandparents had immigrated to the USA from Sogn og Fjordane, Norway. She was predeceased by her four sisters, Martha, Judith, Rhoda, and Freda, and six brothers, Thomas, Loyal, Olin, Elnor, Sever, and Howard. Myrtle is survived by four children, Frances (Alden) Lassen (nee Wagstaff) of Flin Flon, MB; Kenneth (Sylvia) Robertson of Victoria, BC; Garry (Valerie) Robertson of Yorkton, SK; and Carolin Robertson of Kelowna, BC.
She will be remembered by many nieces and nephews, as well as four Robertson grandchildren, Shannon (Steve) Wolstenholme of Langley, BC; Melanie (Grant) Wurts of Yorkton, SK; Jared (Trina) Robertson of Yorkton; and Melinda (Grant) Ottenbreit of Yorkton; as well as nine great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.
