It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother Mary Radigan (nee Pradychuk).
Mom left us peacefully in the early morning of Feb 6, 2018 in her home at Dufferin Place in Nanaimo, B.C., due to complications from a stroke.
Predeceased by her husband Gerry and her parents Pearl and Carl Pradychuk.
Mary leaves behind her sister Lena Poirier, her children Cindy (Colin), Mark (Deanne) and Greg (Margie) Radigan, her grandchildren Laura Bickerton (Gerry), Monika Blats (Cory), Amy Lee-Radigan, Megan Clarke (Spencer), Karly Blats, Noah Lee-Radigan, Dylan Blats (Sydney) and Claire Lee-Radigan, her great-grandchildren Rylan and Emily Bickerton and Brooke Clarke as well as many extended family members and friends.
Mary was born in the small community of Round Hill, Alberta. After high school she made her way West to Kitimat BC where she married and started a family. After a few moves within BC she settled on Vancouver Island and eventually retired to Courtenay, near her beloved Hornby Island cottage. Mary made close friends easily wherever she lived.
She will be remembered and lovingly missed by many. To quote her self-published book, Why Worry?, “There is beauty in everything … every moment of your life is special and a priceless gift.”
A memorial service will be held February 17 at 11:00 AM at Sands Funeral Chapel in Nanaimo (#1 Newcastle Ave).
In lieu of flowers, donations to the “Dufferin Place Resident Council” would be much appreciated and can be mailed to: Dufferin Place, 1200 Dufferin Crescent, Nanaimo BC, V9S 2B7.
Mary’s family would like to extend a special thank you to all of the wonderful staff who were involved in Mary’s care at Dufferin Place.
