Margaret J. Mellin

Mellin, Margaret J. Mellin, (nee: French) born Vancouver, B.C., passed quietly away in St. Joseph’s Hospital, Comox on May 10th, 2002 in her eightieth year. She is survived by her loving sons, David

(Barbara), Comox; Doug (Louise), Nanaimo, her dear sister Eva (Fred) Wilgenhof, Chilliwack, her grandchildren Christy, Grand, and Kimberly, as well as nieces, nephews and their families.

She is predeceased by her one true love and soul-mate of fifty-five years, Arthur, in 1998, her eldest son, Dick in 1961, as well as her brother Lorne.

Marg will forever be remembered as feisty and fun-loving. She grew up in Port Moody, B.C.; Gadsby, Alta; Rosetown, Sask.; and Chilliwack, B.C. where she met Art.

She spent the next fifty-five years as a devoted banker’s wife, moving all over the province, living in Kelowna, Kamloops, Vancouver. Kimberly, Stewart, Agassiz, Ganges, Namaimo, and the Comox Valley, making many wonderful friends over the years.

Marg, a past member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, was a sculptor, a writer, a poet, and a fantastic gardener. She was an ardent collector who loved to decorate, knit, needlepoint, and to share times with family and friends.

As much as we miss our “quite hero”, Art, we shall also miss our “outspoken heroine”, Marg.

Marg request to be cremated to have a private, “family celebration” of her life.

“Death is nothing. I have only slipped away into the next room. The life we lived so fondly together is untouched, unchanged. Speak of me in the easy way you always used. Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow. Laugh as we always did at the little jokes we shared. play, smile, and know that I am near. I am but waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near, Just around the corner. I am always with you, and all is well.”
