Malcolm George (Mal) Land
was born on October 8th, 1923 in Griffin, Saskatchewan and passed away on November 9th, 2011 in the Vernon Jubilee Hospital at the age of 88 years.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Laverne, to whom he was married for 59 years; his son, Glenn (Inga Komnick) Land; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Douglas & Helen Land.
Mal came to Vernon in 1927 with his parents and brother. He was employed with Langstaff & Land as an automotive mechanic for many years and then he worked at Vernon Rent-All until his retirement in the mid 1980s. Mal served his country during World War II in the British Columbia Regiment. He loved hunting, fishing, gardening and taking trips to the Nakusp Hot Springs.
Cremation preceded a Celebration Of Mal’s Life which will be held in “The Bistro” at Polson Multi Level Extended Care Unit on Sunday, November 20th, 2011 at 1:00 P.M. with Mr. Brian Jackson officiating.
