Linda Diana Pollard

It is with great sadness of heart that we announce the passing of Diana, after a several month long battle with an inoperable brain tumor.

Diana was born and raised in Winnipeg, the product of a split family with many brothers and sisters from both the maternal and paternal sides. After her father (who raised her) died, she spent several summers in and around the Steep Rock area, and made lifelong friends there.

After her first marriage dissolved, Diana, along with her four children, met her soul-mate Doug in Courtenay BC. They married, had twins, and continued the journey of their lives together for nearly 39 years.

Diana and Doug spent many wonderful vacations with their older children, enjoying an Alaskan Cruise, Disneyland, Scottsdale Arizona, Puerto Nuevo Mexico, Las Vegas numerous times, and lastly Hawaii- the honeymoon they had planned, but was 38 years in the making!

A natural caregiver, she excelled in her professional roles; a BC Ambulance Attendant, Home Care Aide, and LPNurse in Campbell River Hospital. After retiring from the medical field, she turned her attention to the hospitality industry, where she served the various bars at CFB Comox as a bartender, and other short term, people-oriented jobs. After several years of retirement, she found her most enjoyable job working in the Pro Shop at Mulligans’ Golf Course.

It was during the off season that the monster, a Glio Blastoma tumor, grew in her head which ultimately took her from us.

Predeceased by her mother, father, all her brothers and sisters from the Barnett side of the family, her 16 year old daughter Kimberly Joy Pollard, and several nieces and nephews. She is survived by her husband Doug, daughters Tracey (Peter), Tara (Chris), Kristen (Michael), sons Mark (Shanda), Mike (Kim), 15 grandchildren and one great- grandson, and many brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews, from the Sabiston side of her family.

Mass of Christian Burial will take place Thursday, September 22nd, 2016 at 11:00 am from Christ the King Roman Catholic Church, with Father Marek Paczka, celebrant. Cremation will follow.

Flowers gratefully declined in consideration of donations in Diana’s memory to a charity of ones choice.
