It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Lew on Sunday December 19th, 2004. Born September 1st, 1917 to Tom and Mary Piket, in the family home on Denman Island, B.C. A loving husband to Bun his wife of 60 years, devoted dad to Dyan and Cheryl (Sandy), and a wonderful papa to Corey (Melissa) and Terry (Tammy) and Clay who predeceased him in March 1991. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Madeline and many nieces, nephews and friends. He is predeceased by his parents, his five brothers and one sister. He was raised on Denman Island and attended high school in Cumberland, B.C. He was married in July 1944 and went overseas to serve in WWl, returning in February 1946 where he settled at Horne Lake to raise his family and work for H.C. Welch (Olympic Logging). In 1963 he moved to Qualicum Beach where he worked for Pacific Logging, and later for Greenwood Logging until retirement. Dad was an avid marksman with skeet and trap shooting. As a member of the Fish and Game club he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Dad was past president of Bowser Legion Branch 211 and an active member of Qualicum Beach Legion Branch 76 where he made many friends sitting around the bs table playing crib. Dad was an honorary member of the Qualicum Beach Volunteer Fire Department. Our family wishes to give special thanks to our dear friends Sue and Chickee. We also wish to thank the home care support girls and Karen who gave dad such loving care. We are very grateful for his peace and are deeply saddened by our separation from him. Family Interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to District 69 Hospice.
