Kristi Renee Dobson

1974 – 2017

It is with sadness in our hearts that we convey the message that Kristi passed away. She died Saturday night, July 8, 2017, peacefully in her sleep. In her 43 years of life, Kristi left so very many the legacy of love, generosity and kindness.

Kristi leaves her parents Diane and Pete Dobson, her brother, Shawn and wife, Tisha, and nephews, Tyler and Connor. Also mourning the loss of Kristi are many aunts, uncles and cousins along with countless friends.

Kristi was born on April 13, 1974 in the West Coast General Hospital and graduated from ADSS in 1992. She was so happy and proud to live in the Alberni Valley. Through the years, Kristi has worked as a writer/photographer, as well as a graphic designer. It was just one year ago that she ventured out, starting her own business, Red Ink Solutions. From its inception, the writing, editing, multi-media and graphic design business thrived.

Kristi’s other recent passion was that of home owner. She purchased her first home just 10 months ago and loved making it her own. Picking raspberries and peas from her own garden thrilled her to no end.

Kristi will always be remembered dearly for her philanthropic work. She touched multitudes of people through her volunteer endeavours, a prime one being the Terry Fox Foundation. It began in 1981, at the age of seven when she participated in the inaugural Terry Fox Run. She has continued every year since, raising funds and awareness for this worthy cause. A few years ago, Kristi was instrumental in forming Team Elaine, in honour of her aunt who was dealing with a cancer diagnosis and finally succumbed to it. This team of family and friends have raised thousands of dollars for the foundation.

Other fundraisers include the Canadian Cancer Society’s Relay for Life and Cops for Cancer. Kristi was happiest when helping others.

A Celebration of Life for Kristi will take place on Friday, July 21 at 1:00PM at the Rollin Art Center on 8th Avenue, Port Alberni. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Terry Fox Foundation, if desired…or Kristi would be thrilled if you do a good deed, smile at a stranger or take a friend for coffee.

Wear something colourful!

Kristi made many friends.

She made a difference.

And she made each of her 43 years count.

“Don’t cry when it’s over…smile because it happened.” Dr. Suess
