Kenneth Roy Tompkins passed away suddenly at his residence in Golden, BC in the early hours of Thursday, January 5, 2012 at the age of 51 years.
A celebration of life service will be held from the Golden Civic Centre on Thursday afternoon, January 19th at 2 p.m. with Jack Bowers the funeral celebrant. An opportunity for tributes to be shared by family and friends will be given during the service, or at the reception.
Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on June 26, 1960, Ken has lived and worked in the Golden area for the past 19 years, many of the years with Emil Anderson and the Highway Crew.
He is well remembered and respected for his love of his children, and family; including kids in the community of all ages, he always found the good in them. He was Mr. Fix It, helping many with his magical ability to work on anything and get is working. He was famous for growing the largest turkeys in the valley; many had to be cut in half so they could be crammed into the oven for cooking.
He leaves his loving family, wife, Nancy; son, Kenny, daughter, Katie; mother, Mary Friesen, Salmon Arm, sisters and brothers, Betty Anne Timmers of Salmon Arm, Cindy (Steve) Pfaff of Calgary, Harvey Friesen of Calgary, Larry (Valerie) Friesen of Mexico; as well his step mother, Alice Tompkins of Winnipeg, and many nieces and nephews, and a host of friends, locally and still in Winnipeg.
