Katharina Gross (nee Plett)

Katharina Gross (nee Plett)

April 10, 1924 – February 20, 2020
Born in Russia, Katharina immigrated with her parents to Paraguay in 1930. At the age of 9, she chose to be a follower of Jesus and later was baptized on confession of her faith.
She married Kornelius Gross on January 25, 1947. They farmed in Blumenthal where 5 children were born – Abe, Ernie, Dave, Marlene and Elvira. In 1961 Mom and Dad [with family] followed her parents to Canada. They settled in Vancouver and enjoyed fellowship at Vancouver MB Church.
Mom often stated her thanks to God for His help and said: “I believe that God will bring us into His eternal glory.”
In 1993, Mom and Dad moved to Abbotsford. After Dad’s passing in 1996, Mom felt very alone. We are very thankful for the staff that took such good care of her at Tabor Court, Bevan Lodge and MSA Manor in her last years. Mom wrote in her journal: “The Lord is gracious & provides me with my daily bread and health; to Him be praise and honor”. On February 20 she passed into eternal glory, which Jesus promises to His followers.
Viewing will be held on Friday, February 28, 2020 from 9:00 – 10:00 am at Clearbrook MB Church, 2719 Clearbrook Road, Abbotsford. Burial will take place at 10:30 am at Maclure Road Mennonite Cemetery. Memorial Service to follow at 12 noon at Clearbrook MB Church.
Preceding mom in death were her husband, Kornelius, parents Abram and Helene Plett, sister Maria and brother Hans. Remaining are: her children, Abe, Ernie (Carole), Dave (Shirley), Marlene (Ben), Elvira (Manfred); 9 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.
