Karen Catherine Blanche Dueck

DUECK: Karen Catherine Blanche (Knudsen)

August 19, 1968 ~ March 19, 2007

Karen passed away peacefully at Hospice House in Prince George. Karen was born in Regina, SK, lived from age 10 months to 3 years in St. Catherines, ON, then back to Regina for two years, and on to Courtenay at age 5, where she finished her schooling. She graduated with Honours from GP Vanier in 1986.

Karen married her high school sweetheart Rusty Dueck on August 1st, 1992. In January 1994, they moved to Prince George. Karen worked in several banks, and most recently at Boehmer Service and Investment Group in Prince George, as an Investment Service Specialist. Karen bravely and stubbornly fought her brain tumour for 8 years with a positive ‘thumbs-up’ attitude, while never giving up her trust in the Lord.

Karen was predeceased by her grandparents Frances Knudsen, Cliff and Blanche Abrahams, and her ‘special grandma’ Agnes Dueck.

Karen is survived by her loving and devoted husband Rusty, her son Travis 12 and daughter Sydney 8. She is also survived by her proud parents Wally and Judy Knudsen, of Courtenay, her brothers: Dan (Marcia) of Comox and nephew Kenneth and Dave (Vandhana) of Port Moody, and nephew Cormac. Her parents-in-law Neil and Bev Dueck of Prince George; brother-in-law Randy Dueck (Rhonda Strussi) of Campbell River, and nieces Jocelyn and Kailey.

Karen will also be missed by her uncle Jim Abrahams (Hanna) and family, many other relatives, her multitude of wonderful friends and her church family at Westwood Mennonite Brethren.

We are profoundly sad, but are also joyful knowing that Karen is now safe in the arms of her Lord Jesus and we have the sure and certain hope of seeing her again.

Romans 15:13 (Karen’s special verse)

May the God of Hope fill you with all joy and peace, as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Karen’s Memorial Service was held at Westwood Church on Friday, March 23, with Pastor Mel Fehr officiating, followed by internment in the Prince George Cemetery.

Donations to the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada, 301-620 Colburne Street, London, ON N6B 3R4, in Karen’s honour, would be appreciated by the family.
