JUDITH LYNN BOTTERILL

JUDITH LYNN BOTTERILL

Judith Lynn Botterill, 76 of Nanaimo B.C. passed away peacefully from complications of early Alzheimer’s on December 28, 2016 at Malaspina Gardens in Nanaimo.

Judy was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba to Dan and Edith Botterill on June 21, 1940.

She went to high school at Viscount Alexander and graduated in 1958. Following that, Judy did 4 years of military service as a WREN in Halifax. Eventually she worked at the University of Toronto and became a real advocate for new students. She stayed on and obtained a degree herself in Political Science. Eventually she became known as the proof-reader from hell, and developed into a real wordsmith. Judy also found herself living in rural Northern Ontario for a time, having a real affection for 4 legged friends and loved chopping wood for cozy fires.

Eventually she moved West to be near her mother and sister on Vancouver Island, ending up working in HR for Arranglen Lodge in Qualicum B.C. Her retirement from employment kept her in the mid Island region, feeding the deer and bunnies at her cottage, and enjoying life with her various loving canines. Through her whole life, Judy was a kind and caring soul, with a passion for the underprivileged and defenseless, of both the 2 legged and 4 legged variety.

Judy is survived by sister Cam Driver of Nanaimo and her extended family, brother Jon Botterill and his family of Kelowna BC, and one son Drew in Ontario.

No service will be held by her request. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to your local SPCA, or to the Alzheimer’s Society.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the loving and caring staff at Malaspina Gardens and Dr. Kathy King.
