We regret to announce the sudden passing of Joseph A. Kloppenburg on Saturday, February 3, 2007, at the age of 84. Joe was born in Germany on February 5, 1922. He immigated to Canada with his family when he was 5 years old. He grew up in Humbold, Saskatchewan and at age 16, left with his two brothers for the west coast. In 1941, Joe and his two brothers moved to Kelowna where they grew raspberries. In 1949, he met Anne Kopp and they were married on his birthday in 1951. He worked at various jobs during the years to follow, but always pursured his passion for farming and started dairy farming in 1964. In 1971, Joe, Anne and their six children moved to the Armstrong area and continued dairy farming. The whole family worked on the dairy. Joe was always very active in all his children’s many activities. In his retirement years, he and Anne made many trips south with the snowbirds. He also loved camping and fishing with friends and family. Joe spent all his spare time visiting his children and was very involved with every project they were undertaking. Joe was truly a handyman and was always eager, “gumboots on and tool kit in hand” to help with any job that needed to be done! Joe will be sadly missed by all his family.
