John was born on August 16, 1939 in Pass Creek, BC and passed away peacefully in Castlegar BC on November 26, 2019.
He was predeceased by his father Nick, his mother Mary, his sister Nettie, and his brothers Pete and Harry. John also lost his father-in-law Alex and his dear mother-in-law Anne. He is survived by his loving wife Elizabeth, his daughter Pat (Mark) and their son Matt, his son John (Rachel) and their son Elijah, and his son Allan and his sons Drake, Spencer, and Kellen. John was a proud deda to five grandsons and a beloved brother, uncle, and friend to many.
John was a well-known community politician and master craftsman. He served as Area I, RDCK Director for over 30 years and was a sought after stuccoer. Projects close to his heart include the Brilliant Bridge Restoration, Fire Departments in Thrums and Pass Creek, Castlegar Hospital Board, Castlegar & District Recreation Commission, Council for the Family, and the Castlegar Multicultural Association.
The funeral will take place at the Brilliant Cultural Centre with internment in his beloved Pass Creek valley on Sunday, December 8, 2019 at 10 am. Castlegar Funeral Chapel has been entrusted with the arrangements.
