We regret to announce the death of Mrs. Joan Annabel Jacobi in Vernon Hospice House on Thursday, October 5th, 2006 at the age of 70 years. Joan was predeceased by her parents and two sisters. She is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Ken; one

daughter, Jan (Doug) Shumay; one son, Doug (Karen); one granddaughter,

Jennica MacPhee; three grandsons, Brett, Braiden, and Tristen, all of Vernon; one sister, Verna (William) Ball of Kaleden, BC; numerous nieces and nephews. Joan was a true humanitarian from her early childhood until her passing. Her life’s purpose was helping others. She was the executive director of the Vernon Women’s Transition House. Joan was a recipient of the Chatelaine Who’s Who of Canadian Women. She was also a recipient of the Woman of the Year Award for 1996. A Celebration of Joan’s Life will be held on Tuesday, October 10, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. from the All Saint’s Anglican Church, 3205 – 27th Street, Vernon, BC with The Reverend Canon Peter Davison officiating. A reception will follow in the church hall. Cremation. In lieu of flowers, donations in Joan’s memory may be made to the Vernon & District Hospice House, 3506 – 27th Avenue, Vernon, BC V1T 1S4.
