Jeanette Jennie Ondrack

Jeanette Jennie 1918 – 2016

Born in Fleet, Alberta, October 30, 1918, passed away October 11, 2016 at the age of 97 years and 11 Months in Penticton. She is deeply missed by her three children; Dan (Linda) Ondrack of Toronto, Ontario, Leigh Ondrack (Kathy Smith) of Penticton, BC, and Susan Senko of Penticton, BC, four grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and her nieces and nephews. She is survived by her brother George (Maureen) Graham of Valencia, California. She was predeceased by her husband Frank, sisters; Kay and Olive and brother Victor. While living in Edmonton Jeanette and Frank spent many vacations in the Okanagan Valley and finally decided to settle in Penticton in 1963. Frank spent ten years as Deputy Building Inspector in Penticton, while they also worked a ten acre orchard before retiring in 1973. They spent their winters in California and traveling through Canada and the USA. Jeanette enjoyed volunteer work, playing word games, bingo, and she played a mean game of scrabble. All who met Mom were enthralled with her kindness, openness, and cheerfulness. Her last years were spent at Charles Manor where she was loved by the staff and in turn she appreciated their caring and kindness. Mom, we love you and miss you very much. In lieu of a burial, there will be a cremation followed by a small family service. A Celebration of Jeanette’s Life will be held at a later date, to be announced. In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Penticton Hospital Foundation.
