Jean passed away on 10 January 2018 at Shuswap Lake General Hospital, Salmon Arm, BC at the age of 88 years.
She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters Carole (Jerre) and Colleen (Donald) of Blind Bay, BC and son Russell of Calgary, AB; nieces Sharon (Mike), Bernie (Dave), Janet (Doug), and Louanne (Don); nephews Donald and Jim (Nikki); cousin Janice (John); and a large community of cherished friends.
Jean was born in Forestburg, AB and grew up on her parents’ farm. In 1952, she married the love of her life, Kenneth Warring, who predeceased her in 1986.
Jean lived most of her adult years in Calgary, AB where she built a commendable banking career. She moved to Abbotsford in 2005 and to Blind Bay in 2012. She was an active member of St. Mary’s Church in nearby Sorrento and delighted in her membership with the choir. Jean moved to Andover Terrace, Salmon Arm in August 2017.
Jean thoroughly enjoyed her long association with the Calgary and Abbotsford chapters of PEO-a philanthropic organization promoting and funding educational opportunities for women. During her lifetime, Jean also actively volunteered at the churches she attended, served on the Boards of the condominium associations where she lived, and generously devoted countless hours to helping frail seniors who depended on her for assistance and companionship.
She also maintained a long-term passion for playing bridge, travelled to various destinations on three continents, enjoyed hosting sparkling dinner parties, and was an enthusiastic sports fan.
A memorial service was held on 15 January 2018 at St. Mary’s Church with Reverend Marcus Germaine officiating. Interment will follow in Calgary later in the year (date to be determined).
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Jean may be made to a charity of your choice or to St. Mary’s Anglican-United Church at 1188 TransCanada Highway, Box 271, Sorrento, BC V0E 2W0.
