Jane Marie Carnahan-Schultz

It is with profound sadness to acknowledge the passing of Jane Marie

Carnahan-Schultz- ‘Miss Jane’- taken from us too soon at 58 years of

age. Jane lived in and contributed to the community of Surrey since

1986. She died October 29, 2012 at Peace Arch Hospital in White

Rock after losing her courageous fight for life to metastatic breast

cancer. Jane was born March 20th, 1954 in Owen Sound, Ontario to Archie

and Amy Carnahan. The only girl in a family of three brothers – Tom,

Wayne and Brad- the Carnahan family raised and raced horses on

their rural farm providing a wonderful environment for a young girl to

grow up in. Jane’s mother died of ALS when Jane was 18 years old, propelling her into the role of mom. Caring for her mother during her illness

likely sparked Jane’s life-long career in nursing:

and a Master of Nursing- Adult Health Nurse Practitioner.

Jane cites her biggest achievements as her two sons, Dylan (Vancouver fire-fighter) and Erik

(computer science student SFU). She is survived by her devoted husband Randall Schultz with whom she formed a life-long alliance and loving partnership in 1985. Jane loved music and dance and was the washboard player in Mojo Zydeco, a dance band she

formed with her husband in 2001.

Those that knew Jane would remember her for her open smile and her absolute self-less empathy and advocacy for everyone she touched. There will be a service for Jane November 11 at 2:00PM at the Crescent United Church 2756 – 127th Street Surrey. A celebration of her life will follow at Camp Alexandra, 2916 McBride Ave, Surrey.
