February 1, 1952 – April 28, 2012
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ivan Joly following a brief illness. He passed away peacefully at age 60 with his wife Diane by his side.
After growing up and attending school in Coquitlam BC, Ivan married his best friend in 1971. He moved to Vernon with his wife and three daughters in 1981 and quickly formed many lifelong friendships. Whether through his many years of baseball or in the building industry, he was well loved and respected by everyone who knew him.
Through life’s accomplishments or challenges Ivan always led by example, working hard and showing respect and kindness to others, staying true to his strong morals and values. Always willing to lend a hand, you could count on him for anything.
Ivan enjoyed the outdoors and was happiest when fishing in his boat with a beer in his hand while camping with his family. Our great memories of those times will last a lifetime. He was an amazing handyman, spending countless hours on projects for family and friends. A devoted husband and wonderful father and grandfather, we will miss him deeply.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 40 years Diane, daughters Deedra (Joe), Michelle (Neil), Crystal (Dave), grandchildren Keenan, Miranda, Cole, Alex, Dylan, parents Vic and Gloria, sister Doris (Roland), brother Phil (Sharon), mother-in-law Patricia, as well as many other loving relatives and wonderful friends. He was predeceased by his father-in-law Verne in 2003.
A heartfelt thank-you to Dr. Barnard, Dr. Humphreys, Loren, and the staff at Hospice House for their care and compassion during this time.
We invite everyone who knew and loved Ivan to please join us in a celebration of his life on Saturday, May 5 2012 at the Elk’s Hall from 1-3pm.
As an expression of sympathy, those wishing to do so can make a donation at Tom McMurtry and Peter Baerg Cancer Clinic or North Okanagan Hospice Society.

If tears could build a stairway
and memories a lane
I would walk right up to Heaven
and bring you back again
