Herman W. Bodo Kohlmann

Herman W. Bodo Kohlmann

Born in Bitterfeld, East Germany on July 4, 1934, Herman passed away in Salmon Arm, BC on July 14, 2011 at the age of 77 years.

He was predeceased by his parents and sister in Germany.

Herman immigrated to Canada at the age of 25 years, after completing his Horticulture Trade Degree in Germany. Upon his arrival, he worked in Toronto, then directly to Hazelton, BC working in the forest industry for eight years. He then moved to Lake Louise as head gardener of the hotel grounds for two years, and then his final move was to the Shuswap Area, working at Adams Lake Lumber and Salmon Arm Golf Club for some 20 years. Herman purchased land and built his home on Greer Road in Balmoral.

Herman loved friends, perfectly timing his visits around mealtime, which he always enjoyed. Bodo, as most called him, will be greatly missed by his many friends. He thanks the doctors, nurses, home care personnel and the staff at Lakeside Manor for their wonderful and loving care.

A Celebration of Bodo’s life will be held on Friday, July 22, 2011, at 1:00 p.m. from Fischer’s Funeral Services with Chaplain Bill Kiesman officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
