1920 – 2013
Gordon Jakel, born September 8, 1920 at 150 Mile House, passed away peacefully on February 22, 2013 at the age of 92 at the Seniors Village.
Gordon was predeceased by his loving wife Betty in 2004, also his brother Norman in 1989. Gordon leaves many family members who will be left with wonderful memories and happy times. He leaves his sister Verna and husband Bruce Pollard, five nieces and nephews, 10 great nieces and nephews and 11 great great nieces and nephews. Greg and Louise Pigeon, Gisele and Andy Machin and families have been wonderful and loving extended family to Gordon.
He had lived in Alexis Creek almost all his life with exception of five years in the services overseas during WW II.
Gordon and Betty loved the outdoors. Camping, fishing and hunting all summer and in the fall heading to Arizona for the winter. They went RVing on the Arizona desert with Quartzsite as their headquarters where they had many friends. Gordon was a top notch horseshoe player, winning many trophies in the Chilcotin and Arizona. They loved all animals, birds and wildlife. Gordon and Betty were fond of traveling including trips to the Arctic Circle and the trip to Baja, Mexico with their truck and trailer.
Gordon spent three summers with Bruce, Verna and family from 2006-2009 finally settling back in Williams Lake in the Cariboo-Chilcotin he loved.
The family wishes to thank Robin Blair and Phil Robertson for their faithful visits, especially since Gordon was spending more time indoors.
We will miss him dearly, he was a kind, quiet, gentle man and so appreciative for the care he received at the Seniors Village.
No funeral by request and his ashes will be taken to Bidwell Lake, his favourite spot in the Chilcotin, on a warm sunny day at a later date.
Rest in peace dear Gordon.
