Glenna Evelyn Christophers

Glenna passed away on Saturday, October 25, 2008 at the age of 93. Survived by her loving family, three daughters, Pat Hyatt of Sweet Home, OR, Deanna (Ray) Johansen of Golden, BC, Jeanne Ellen La Framboise of Edmonton, AB, two sons, Philip (Marion) Christophers of Douglas, WY, Neil (Carol) Granley of Belleuve, WA, many grandchildren and great grandchildren, and her sister Mary Gordon of Nanaimo. Sadly predeceased by her first husband Ordean Granley, second husband Philip Christophers, twin boys Billie and Bobbie, and two daughters Lynne Tomlinson and Dorothy Armstrong. Glenna spent her youth in Mayerthrope, AB, where she met and married Ordean Granley and had her first family. Ordean passed away in 1955 in a boating accident. She married Philip Christophers in December 1956. The combined families lived in Edmonton for 10 years before buying a lot and building a retirement home in Coral Beach. Philip passed away in 1981 and Glenna lived at Coral Beach until moving into the Manor at Lake Country in 2002. Glenna’s homes were filled with family and guests and she was happiest when she was caring for them all. Glenna’s last few years were spent renewing old friendships at the Manor. Being very forthright was her trade mark resulting in her being involved in the steering committees wherever she resided. She was involved in building and running the retirement club in Lake Country, assisted in building the Lawn Bowling Greens in Winfield, building the fire hall in Coral Beach, the volunteer firefighters and the United Church in Winfield, particularly the Thrift Store. She also wrote for the local publication and sat on the resident council at the Lodge. Glenna was very capable until the day she passed, even though her health deteriorated there were few complaints and she loved having company. Memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 30, 2008 at 1:00 pm at Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Winfield United Church, 3751 Woodsdale Road, Winfield, BC, V4V 1X2. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting – 250-860-7077.
