Gerald Ennis

Gerald passed away at Holmberg House Hospice in Abbotsford, after a short but courageous battle with cancer. Gerry was born March 31, 1949 in Abbotsford. He attended South Poplar Elementary, Abbotsford Jr. and Sr. Secondary Schools before graduating from UBC with a BA of Commerce. In 1972 he joined the RCMP and after graduating Depot he was posted to Bashaw, AB where he met his wife Sandy. After postings to Red Deer and Peace River, AB, Gerry left the RCMP and joined the Matsqui (now Abbotsford) Police Department where he served until 2005. Following a career in policing, Gerry joined Sandy at Re/Max Little Oak as a Realtor. Over the years Gerry volunteered much of his free-time to several organizations, such as the Abbotsford Falcons Football Association, where he served as the founding President, the ALS Society, Kiwanis Club, Ducks Unlimited, and the Pulling Together Canoe Journey. Gerry was an avid football fan, hunter and fisherman. When he wasn’t spending time with family he was often found down at the river chasing coho and sockeye. Together with Sandy, Gerry had a love of country music and always looked forward to their regular trips to Nashville, TN. Gerry will be greatly missed. He is survived by his loving wife Sandy, three sons; Jason (Mary-Anna), Clayton (Sue) and Tyler (Kim), six grandchildren Aedan (8), Noémie (6), Rhys (6), Ethan (3), Séamus (2) and Sloane (7 months) and brother Roger (Diane). The family wishes to thank their vast network of supporters, friends, neighbours, and health care providers including, but not limited to; the staff and volunteers at Holmberg House. At Gerry’s request a private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Abbotsford Hospice Society or Honour House in New Westminster.
